The Australian Government has recently made changes to the aged care system. This includes the introduction of My Aged Care, an information service designed to provide people with more choice, control and easier access to aged care services.
Visit the My Aged Care website to find out more or you can call the My Aged Care contact centre on 1800 200 422.
We can help you to navigate the My Aged Care system and discuss the steps involved in becoming an SRS client. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT)If you need some help at home or are considering moving into an aged care home, you may first need a free assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). A member of ACAT will talk to you about your current situation and work out if you are eligible to receive government-subsidised aged care services. More information about ACAT is available on the My Aged Care website.

Regional Assessment Service (RAS)From July 2015, if you are seeking access to aged care services for the first time you will need to contact the My Aged Care contact centre. If you are referred to a RAS, the RAS will contact you to arrange the assessment. During the home support assessment, the RAS assessor will work with you to develop a support plan that reflects your aged care needs, goals and preferences.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is an entry-level home help programme funded by the Australian Government. It is for older people who are mostly – but not completely – able to live and cope on their own, and don’t yet need higher levels of support at home. To get support at home, you need a home support assessment (conducted by the Regional Assessment Service (RAS)). To learn more about CHSP visit the My Aged Care website or call the My Aged Care contact centre on 1800 200 422. |
