These outings are to a special place of interest. Such as a visit to a club for a concert and meal, shopping, or meeting up with another group for activities. Refer to the activity calendar for outing days.

Where would you like to go on your next outing? We are always on the look out for new ideas and welcome suggestions.

Please get in touch with us and share your ideas.

We don’t stop playing because we grow old,
We grow old because we stop playing!
At SRS we don't stop playing!

“I attend SRS to get out of the house and to be involved and meet people. The staff have encouraged me to host “Val’s Craft Corner” some Monday’s to teach knitting and crochet to other interested clients. I especially love knitting dolls. I enjoy the music and the outings which are great. I really like all the Respite Care Workers”.

“I attend SRS because I just love everything about SRS. I like the companionship and I think the staff are wonderful. I have met some lovely new friends and I just love the place and the food. Everything at SRS Is excellent.”

We provide a delicious morning tea (fruit and tasty snack such as scones) and a nutritious three course hot lunch (for example, soup, main meal and dessert). Meals are generally served and enjoyed together in the dining room. We vary our menu regularly and cater for special dietary needs.

“I attended SRS originally encouraged by my daughter after my husband passed away. And it proved to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I enjoy the company of all the staff and they are wonderful and kind. The meals are very good and more than I have at home. I also enjoy the concerts and outings and talking to everyone.  Everyone has an interesting story to tell.”

Audrey Walsh, Sherwood Day Centre client

We provide transport.

If you live in our local community, we will collect you from your home in the morning, transport you to our Centre and take you home in the afternoon.

Our buses depart Sherwood Day Centre at 8:15 am to commence client pick ups between 8:30 am and 9:30 am. Buses depart the Centre at 2.00pm. Afternoon drop offs are between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm, depending on traffic.

We have a fleet of modern buses.  Each bus has a qualified Bus Driver and an assistant on board with a special hoist for anyone who is unable to manage the steps. This hoist is also available for clients who need to remain in their wheelchair while on the bus.
Catching an SRS bus is not only a convenient way to get to the Centre, it is also an outing in itself! It’s a great opportunity to talk with others and see what’s happening in the local community.

Please note: Clients who live outside our service area are required to provide their own transport.

“For over 4 years my husband Laurie and I have been going to Sherwood Respite and enjoy going very much.  The staff and volunteers greet us with bright hello and big smiles, which makes us feel very welcome. We receive morning tea and a good lunch and lots of laughter and talk which does ageing people lots of good. There is a day out on the bus once a month for every day of the week which is most enjoyable and we go to places we could never go to on our own.” Edna Cottle – Sherwood Day Centre client
